Mental Health and Wellbeing at Burnwood Primary Academy

At Burnwood Primary Academy, we are committed to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for every member of our school community — including students, staff, and parents/carers. We strive to achieve this through a combination of universal, whole-school approaches and targeted support for individuals who may be more vulnerable.

In addition to fostering positive mental health, we recognise the importance of identifying and responding to mental ill health. By developing and implementing practical, relevant, and effective mental health policies and procedures, we aim to create a safe, supportive, and stable environment for all students and their families — whether they are directly or indirectly affected by mental health challenges.

Our Key Objectives:

  • Promote positive mental health across the entire school community.
  • Increase awareness and understanding of common mental health issues.
  • Equip staff to identify early warning signs of mental ill health.
  • Support staff working with young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Provide appropriate support to students affected by mental ill health, as well as their peers and families.
Please find below more information from our Mental Health & Wellbeing Policy.

It's Children's Mental Health Week - Monday 5th February to Sunday 11th February 2024. The theme this year is 'My Voice Matters'. We have a number of activities going on throughout school this week. There are also parent/carer resources on the Place2Be website. Have a fun week celebrating & raising awareness for Children's Mental Health .

We raised awareness & celebrated World Mental Health Day on Friday 6th October 2023. There were lots of activities taking place throughout the whole school. It was non-uniform day for all staff & pupils. It was great to see so many of us wearing an item of yellow clothing. Staff had the opportunity to have a free breakfast butty. Trained staff delivered Reiki, to both staff & parents & the children took part in lots of related activities. We had a blast!
